Job Overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our clients pharmacy team based across multiple NHS hospital sites in Merseyside. This is a ward-based role where you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of pharmaceutical services across various clinical wards.

We are looking for a committed and reliable pharmacy technician with experience in hospital wards to assist in the management and supply of medications, as well as providing advice to medical and nursing staff on pharmaceutical matters. Flexibility is key, and the role will require a car driver to travel between different hospital locations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support ward-based pharmacists in delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients.
  • Dispense and check medication orders for patients across various hospital wards.
  • Provide drug information and advice to healthcare staff on the wards.
  • Assist in the preparation and dispensing of intravenous medications, where applicable.
  • Ensure safe and effective storage and distribution of medicines across the hospital sites.
  • Carry out stock control and ensure accurate medication record keeping.
  • Provide advice on clinical medication management and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to audits, investigations, and other improvement initiatives as required.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualification: Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 years’ experience working as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital ward environment.
  • Driving: A car driver is highly desirable due to the multiple hospital sites.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexibility: Ability to adapt to different wards and hospital environments as required.

Desirable:

  • Experience with automated dispensing systems.
  • Knowledge of clinical pharmacy practices and protocols in a hospital setting.
