Manufacturing/Shift Supervisor - Late shifts - Cleaning and waste contract

£28,840 (£30,282 with shift premium)

Role Purpose:

The Cleaning Supervisor will be responsible for the supervision of labour to ensure the smooth operation of the cleaning and waste operations. They will develop the skills and abilities of new and existing employees, ensure that Company Human Resources procedures are followed, and maintain good communications with the customer/associates.

The Supervisor will have a full understanding of the methods of cleaning, reviewing method & risk assessments, and ensuring on behalf of management that all individuals are carrying out their duties to a high standard in accordance with such statements. They will understand/lead the day-to-day operations of the Waste department, which is a production-critical role.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and plan operational cleaning activities, including overtime requirements, in order to provide the timely delivery of services to a standard which meets and exceeds that required by the customer.
  • Supervise and plan operational waste collections/processing activities, including constant review/amendment of waste assignments.
  • Work alongside production associates, leading all current initiatives (which includes 100% grade, no contamination, polythene and plastics) and ensuring there is waste cover/ownership of all areas in the most efficient manner
  • Oversee operational resources to ensure efficient working both as teams and as
  • Ensure that the required cleaning activities are delivered as and when required by the appropriate
  • Complete safety observation checks on all operatives across
  • Ensure that cleaning operations are undertaken in a safe manner, with special focus on ensuring:
    • All necessary risk assessments and method statements are available and up to date
    • All current best practices are followed and shared
    • All necessary visual aids are available and used
    • All necessary PPE is provided and used
    • Materials are handled in accordance with
  • Ensure that all supervised staff are provided with sufficient training in all safety aspects related to their job,
  • Monitor and record the attendance, absenteeism, and lateness of the staff being supervised, submitting accurate weekly timesheets.
  • Ensure that staff have access to all materials and equipment required to effectively undertake their duties.
  • Perform any additional duties as reasonably requested by your immediate

Internal and External Relationships:

The Cleaning Supervisor will report directly to the Cleaning Manager. They will also liaise with Supervisors on other shifts, and colleagues at all levels of the organisation.

Essential Knowledge and Experience:

  • Relevant cleaning and waste experience
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and legislation
  • Experience of leading and supporting teams
  • A Level or equivalent qualification
  • People management experience
  • Familiarity with an automotive manufacturing environment
  • History of effectively handling customer queries and complaints

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise tasks as required, and work to tight deadlines
