Job Title: Lead Quantity Surveyor

About the Company: A well-established and rapidly growing property development and construction company is seeking an experienced Lead Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. The company is renowned for delivering high-quality residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, playing a key role in urban regeneration projects across the North West.

Role Overview: As the Lead Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for overseeing the cost management, procurement, and financial control of multiple construction projects. You will ensure that projects are delivered within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance with contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the quantity surveying function across multiple projects, ensuring financial control and cost efficiency.

  • Prepare and manage budgets, cost plans, and cash flow forecasts.

  • Oversee procurement strategies and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Conduct valuations, cost reporting, and risk analysis to ensure project profitability.

  • Identify and manage variations, claims, and contractual disputes.

  • Provide commercial support to project teams, ensuring compliance with contractual and legal obligations.

  • Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors, fostering professional growth within the team.

  • Collaborate with senior management to align commercial strategies with business objectives.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally in a lead or senior role within the construction or property development sector.

  • Strong understanding of cost control, procurement, and contract negotiation.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.

  • Proficiency in quantity surveying software and financial reporting tools.

  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field (RICS accreditation is desirable).
