We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Outreach Family Support Worker to join a well-established team at Liverpool City Council. This role involves working with children and families to provide high-quality, targeted outreach and home-based support. You will help improve outcomes for children and young people through a whole-family approach, supporting them to access appropriate services and reduce the need for statutory interventions.

  • 18.00 LTD per hour inclusive of holiday pay
  • 35 hours per week
  • 3 month initial contract with possibility of extension after this


Responsibilities

  • Act as a Lead Professional for complex cases, conducting early help assessments and coordinating Team Around the Family meetings.
  • Provide intensive, targeted support to children (0-25 where SEND applies) and families, focusing on vulnerable groups.
  • Assess risk and need, formulating and implementing plans to reduce challenges and improve outcomes.
  • Use solution-focused methods aligned with the Signs of Safety model and tools like the Family Outcomes Star.
  • Deliver parenting strategies and facilitate meetings to strengthen family relationships.
  • Keep accurate records on electronic systems, attend supervision sessions, and contribute to team objectives.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, and the council's values in all aspects of your work.
  • Support supervised contact for cases under Early Help and collaborate with multi-agency professionals.


Requirements


Essential:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Childcare, Education, or Health and Social Care.
  • Experience working directly with children, young people, and families, including outreach and home-based support.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection, with strong communication and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.


Desirable:

  • Knowledge of child development and experience delivering practical parenting strategies.
  • Skills in problem-solving, resilience, and innovative support methods.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and Early Help principles.
