Support Worker (Asylum Seekers)

14 per hour

Liverpool - Kensington

Temporary position with the option to go permanent after 16 weeks.

Brook Street Social Care are now recruiting 6 support workers for our client in the Kensington area of Liverpool.

Our client provides compassionate support and guidance to individuals aged 16 and above within supported accommodation, helping to empower residents to achieve independence, reach their full potential, and integrate seamlessly into their host community.

We prioritise creating a nurturing environment where individuals seeking asylum receive the care and resources they need to thrive, including access to education and community integration opportunities.

Duties

  • Assisting individuals within supported accommodation facilities to navigate the challenges they face and work towards positive outcomes
  • Provide personalised support tailored to the needs of each resident
  • Promote independence
  • Facilitate skill development
  • Create a supportive environment to achieve growth and well-being

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support to residents aged 16 and above to promote independence and autonomy
  • Develop personalised support plans in collaboration with residents, focusing on achieving individual goals and outcomes
  • Facilitate life skills training sessions and workshops to enhance resident's abilities in areas such as budgeting, cooking, and self-care
  • Advocate for resident's rights and access to education, employment, health care, and other essential services.
  • Foster a sense of belonging and community integration by organising social activities, cultural events, and educational opportunities.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, including educational institutions and community organisations, to support resident's integration into the host community.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to resident support plans, progress, and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a similar role providing support to individuals in a residential or community setting is desired but not essential
  • Driver desired
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Understanding of issues facing individuals seeking asylum and marginalised populations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating flexibility, empathy, and resilience
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices related to supported accommodation and community support services.
