Youth Justice  Prevention OfficerLocation: MerseysidePay rate:  £21.31 per hourWe have an opportunity for a Youth Justice  Prevention Officer based in Merseyside. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a newly expanded Prevention Team working with young people, parents and carers in school settings as part of a multi-disciplinary team to improve young people’s engagement with education, improve attendance and support young people on their education journey. As a Youth Justice  Prevention Officer will be to support young people to improve their attendance in school as well as improving their engagement in their education placement. The team works collaboratively with stakeholders including schools, safeguarding teams, health care providers, CAMHS and the Police to achieve the best outcomes for children in education settings. The role will provide the opportunity to develop creative, strengths-based approaches to working with children and families. The successful candidate will receive regular supervision and support to enhance skills, knowledge and experience of working with additional support needs in their education settings. You will be based within the school although you will also be expected to support young people and their families within the community. You will also be able to work from home at times where the demands of the duties allow. As it is expected that you will be working within communities it is essential that you are a Car Driver/have access to appropriate transport to travel citywide. Please note, within Liverpool Targeted Services this role is known as 'Targeted Services Officer'This role is for you if:
  • you are passionate about helping young people, acting both as a mentor and a figure of authority 
  • you can understand and connect with children and young people from all backgrounds and situations, including those who have committed serious crimes, grown up in difficult settings or have mental health concerns
Perfect candidate will be:
  • Recognised and relevant professional qualifications e.g. teaching qualifications, social work, other level 6 qualifications, management qualifications.
  • Evidence of skills, knowledge and experience to be able to assess and manage risk for the most vulnerable children.
  • Work in a Social Services Directorate or other Statutory or Voluntary Agency.
  • Constantly striving for continuous improvement to provide the best outcomes for individuals and their families
  • Highly skilled at building meaningful relationships with children and families to engage them in assessments and plans
  • Committed to providing our service users with a high-quality service
  • Experienced in working in a multi-disciplinary, interagency basis
  • Knowledge of legislation relating to general social work practice
  • 2 Years plus Qualified
In this role you will:
  • Use skills, knowledge, and experience to make full assessment of risks protection and social care needs.
  • Manage an agreed case load.
  • Use specialist communication skills to achieve optimum outcomes for service users.
Devise individual care plans, taking account of diversity and promoting dignity and
  • empowerment.
  • Offer advice and support to unqualified staff and students to assist development.
