At Acorn, we have gone from strength to strength, and due to this, we are seeking an enthusiastic QA Automation Engineer to be part of our amazing IT team during this time of growth.

You will have a passion for automation showing your knowledge in testing for web and mobile applications, whilst showcasing your teamwork abilities through helping coach and mentor more junior members of the QA team on best practices and also methodologies.

As you are part of the IT team you will work closely with the QA’s, DevOps and Development to ensure the highest quality software releases.

Role: QA Automation Engineer

Location: Liverpool City Centre on a hybrid basis

Working hours: Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:30pm

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 DOE

What you will be doing:

  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using .NET, Specflow, Playwright and frontend automation tools for our React web and React Native mobile applications
  • Drive the automation testing tech stack to ensure high quality software releases
  • Collaborate with developers and product owners to understand requirements and user stories
  • Execute automated test cases to identify and report defects
  • Maintain and update test scripts to reflect changes in software features
  • Develop and maintain test data sets and test environments, continuously improving the test automation framework by identifying and implementing best practices and tools
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure quality of code and test scripts
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for our software products, including functional, performance, and regression testingrequirements
  • Coach and mentor Junior QA engineers on testing best practices, tools, and methodologies
  • Collaborate with other members of the QA team to ensure consistency in testing practices and processes across different products and projects
  • Work with other members of the DevOps, Development, QA team to ensure high quality software releases

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience in developing and executing automated test cases for web and mobile applications using frontend automation tools
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Strong proficiency in C# and .NET
  • Familiarity with Specflow and BDD methodologies
  • Experience with frontend automation tools such as Cypress/Playwright and Appium
  • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases
  • Experience with source control tools such as Git
  • Ability to drive the automation testing tech stack
