Salary: 95 - 110 depending on experience

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive Teaching Assistant with SEN experience to join a fantastic school based in Stockbridge Village (L28) and support a wonderful young boy with epilepsy in a 1:1 role. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in the educational experience of a child with specific health needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored, one-on-one support to a student with epilepsy throughout their school day.
  • Assist with the child's academic progress, ensuring they can engage with the curriculum in a way that meets their individual needs.
  • Be vigilant in monitoring the child's health and well-being, particularly in relation to managing epilepsy, and act quickly if a seizure occurs.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to implement personalised learning strategies and accommodations.
  • Support the child's emotional and social development, encouraging positive behaviour and engagement with peers.
  • Maintain accurate records of the child's progress, health concerns, and any interventions or strategies used.
  • Follow school policies and health and safety procedures, ensuring the child's safety at all times.
  • Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the student to foster their confidence and independence.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, particularly those with epilepsy, is highly desirable.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children with health needs.
  • Understanding of epilepsy, its potential triggers, and how to respond in the event of a seizure.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with the child, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive and proactive attitude, with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the child.

Qualifications:

  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is preferred.
  • First Aid training, including seizure management, is desirable (training can be provided).
  • A strong passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
