Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Huyton, Knowsley

Hours: Full Time (8:30am - 3:30pm)

Start Date: ASAP

The Governors of a Huyton-based Primary School wish to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible. Under the direction of the SENCO and Class Teacher, the successful applicant would be required to provide support for children with additional needs. Other duties would include:

  • Supporting children that are unable to access the mainstream curriculum;
  • Following Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs);
  • To be able to work without direct supervision of the teacher;
  • Working with and supervising the physical/general care of individuals and groups of children under the direction the teacher;
  • Providing general support to the teacher in the management of pupils in the classroom, and contributing to the planning, development and implementation of intervention as appropriate;
  • Modifying or adapting activities or resources as agreed with the teacher to enable pupils to achieve intended learning outcomes and providing regular feedback on pupils learning and behaviour to the teacher/SENCO.

The ideal candidate will have had some experience of working with children with ADHD/ASC and be enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated. They will have a patient, nurturing nature and be effective in promoting concentration and good learning behaviour.
