SEN Teacher- Liverpool

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join an exceptional SEN school located in Liverpool. This role is ideal for a teacher experienced in supporting students with complex learning needs who thrives in a highly supportive and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a highly individualized curriculum, focused on sensory and therapeutic learning, to students with profound and multiple learning disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons tailored to the specific needs of students with PMLD, incorporating sensory-based and therapeutic activities.
Create and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCO, support staff, therapists, and parents.
Support students with a range of complex needs, including physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and severe communication challenges.
Utilize various communication methods, such as Makaton, PECS, and sensory story-telling, to engage students and promote participation.
Assist with personal care tasks as required, working closely with teaching assistants to ensure students’ physical and emotional well-being.
Regularly assess student progress and adjust teaching approaches, ensuring each child receives individualized support and achieves measurable growth.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and physiotherapists, to provide holistic care.

Requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with significant experience in SEN, ideally in a PMLD setting.
Knowledge of specialized communication strategies, sensory integration, and therapeutic techniques suitable for students with PMLD.
Strong understanding of the PMLD curriculum and personalized learning approaches.
Compassionate, patient, and adaptable, with a commitment to nurturing each student’s potential.
Training in Team Teach, manual handling, and personal care (or willingness to obtain these certifications).
