SEN Teacher- Liverpool

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join an exceptional SEN school located in Liverpool. This role is ideal for a teacher experienced in supporting students with complex learning needs who thrives in a highly supportive and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a highly individualized curriculum, focused on sensory and therapeutic learning, to students with profound and multiple learning disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons tailored to the specific needs of students with PMLD, incorporating sensory-based and therapeutic activities.
  • Create and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCO, support staff, therapists, and parents.
  • Support students with a range of complex needs, including physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and severe communication challenges.
  • Utilize various communication methods, such as Makaton, PECS, and sensory story-telling, to engage students and promote participation.
  • Assist with personal care tasks as required, working closely with teaching assistants to ensure students’ physical and emotional well-being.
  • Regularly assess student progress and adjust teaching approaches, ensuring each child receives individualized support and achieves measurable growth.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and physiotherapists, to provide holistic care.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with significant experience in SEN, ideally in a PMLD setting.
  • Knowledge of specialized communication strategies, sensory integration, and therapeutic techniques suitable for students with PMLD.
  • Strong understanding of the PMLD curriculum and personalized learning approaches.
  • Compassionate, patient, and adaptable, with a commitment to nurturing each student’s potential.
  • Training in Team Teach, manual handling, and personal care (or willingness to obtain these certifications).
