Job title: EYFS and KS1 SEN Unit Class Teacher (for children with ASC)
Grade: UPS + 1st SEN allowance
Location: L30
Contract: Part time with potential for full time
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the needs of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 (KS1) pupils, with an EHCP and a diagnoses of autism.
- Work with children with additional SEND needs, including autism, to support their educational development.
- Create a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes equality and diversity.
- Collaborate with colleagues and parents to ensure pupils' individual needs are met.
- Provide intimate care as needed to support children's well-being and development.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing feedback and implementing interventions where necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of pupils' development and communicate with stakeholders.
- Uphold school policies and practices in line with safeguarding regulations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Evidence of professional development relevant to SEND, early years and Key Stage One.
- A minimum of three years’ experience teaching in a SEN Unit Class (Preferable).
- Experience working with children with additional SEND needs, particularly autism
Skills:
- Strong understanding of the EYFS and KS1 curriculum and an awareness of how they can be adapted to suit children with complex needs.
- Knowledge of effective strategies for teaching children with SEND
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to build effective relationships with pupils, parents, and staff
- It is essential when working with computerised systems to be fully aware of the responsibility at all time of the Data Protection Act for the security, accuracy, and significance of personal data held on the systems.
