Your new companyThis multi-academy trust has already experienced significant growth in recent months, and it is going to continue to grow from where they are now with around 15 schools, increasing to almost 40 schools over the coming years. Due to this recent growth and further expansion plans, the trust has created a central IT team and following the appointment of a Head of IT, they have approached Hays seeking an Infrastructure Manager to join the team on a permanent basis. With the trust headquarters based in Liverpool and with schools across the Merseyside region, the successful candidate would ideally be based in this geography, however the role also offers an attractive hybrid working package, therefore offering more flexibility around location. The trust has an excellent reputation with a strong focus on ensuring the relevant central services ensure the highest quality of teaching and learning, which therefore means continuous development and progression, making this an exciting role for the right candidate. Your new roleThe Infrastructure Manager will report to the Head of IT and will take ownership of the management, installation, maintenance and security of the IT network across all schools in the trust, including both hardware and software. This will involve the management and maintenance of the server and switch infrastructure across the entire trust, and you will be a key part in the migration of the trust over to the cloud, working closely with individual schools as they migrate over. As this is a growing trust, there will continuously be new technologies, systems being introduced, as well as exciting projects to work on and therefore an attractive place to work for an individual who is seeking continuous professional development. You will be fully supported by the Head of IT and wider leadership teams, but will have full accountability for the infrastructure and, therefore, will be able to look back at the work achieved and feel a real sense of success and ownership. This role also offers hybrid working, with a requirement to only be on site when projects are being delivered, and you could therefore be based anywhere within a commutable distance from Merseyside. The role will also expand over the coming years, with future plans to recruit additional team members and management and leadership will therefore become a key part of this role. What you'll need to succeedIn order to be successful in securing this position, a strong background working in infrastructure specifically in the education sector would be beneficial, however the sector specific experience isn't essential. You must, however, have excellent working knowledge of Microsoft 365, with experience of enroling devices on InTune, constructing SharePoint sites and working on Group Policy. A real passion and desire for working in the education sector is essential, as well as the desire to further progress your knowledge and take on a more leadership role in the future as the team starts to grow. What you'll get in returnIn return, you will become an integral part of a growing multi-academy trust where you will experience further development and career progression, fulfilling aspirations to move into a management team and be part of a successful central IT team. You will receive 30 days holiday plus bank, an excellent benefits package and a local government pension scheme.
