Elevation Recruitment are working with a leading provider of High Voltage power infrastructure services to help them recruit a Project Manager to oversee their projects across Scotland.The Role
The purpose of the role is to manage the safe and successful project delivery for all projects allocated to you, and assist the other members of the team as needed. This will typically cover the procurement of materials, equipment and resources and obtaining competitive quotes and placing orders. Following on from handover from the design team, you would develop the construction programme from contract acceptance to handover to the client and the completion of O&M documentation, including all relevant stages, processes and tasks pertinent to the project.
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for organising both internal and external resource needs and the development of the necessary HSQE and Work Instruction documentation to safely deliver the works. You will also lead the provision of an enhanced level of support to the Site teams, to ensure all relevant Health, safety & contractual obligations are met.
You will actively engage with the Design Team, Client representatives, Subcontractors and respective DNO’s in the planning and delivery of each stage of the project.
Financial management of each project will be needed, both in terms of 3rd party and internal costs, revenue and margin.
This role is based in Livingston, with travel required to attend site, as required.
The role you’d play
- Plan, co-ordinate, lead and pro-actively manage the development and delivery of projects to ensure all contracts are delivered safely to program and budget to the satisfaction of clients and the business needs.
- Full understanding of the contracted scope of works and the ability to identify variations to change of scope or additional works, controlling change requests and technical queries.
- Establishment of safe systems of work in accordance with health and safety legislation including CDM where applicable.
- Direct liaison with the client, sub-contractors, DNO’s and third parties.
- Preparation and maintenance of the programme and resource plan.
- Communication of project requirements to site delivery personnel including contractors and agents.
- Management of the project team and co-ordination of project activities.
- Overall responsibility for project execution, ensuring that programme / project is delivered within contract requirements, standards of quality and safety expectations.
- Manage project costs, monitor finances and have strong commercial acumen. Evidence that the team are achieving optimised utilisation and are meeting and exceeding customer charter targets.
- Create a robust quality assurance process for your projects in compliance with out Project management procedures and Quality process.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
- ONC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, or appropriate equivalent.
- Project Management – Prince 2, APM, and/or equivalent role-based experience.
- Project Management experience on HV & LV networks.
- Strong financial / Commercial acumen, knowledge of contracts and contract law.
- Produce and monitor project programmes and monitor in MS project or equivalent, knowledge of scheduling of work and resources.
- Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Cost and revenue management.
- Experienced in the role and operation as a Principal Contractor under CDM.
- Working understanding of legislative requirements pertinent to the role:
- National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS)
- Health and Safety at Work Act
- NJUG
- Regional DNO requirements and specifications
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- HNC or Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Management qualifications
- NRSWA Supervisors Competence
- DNO authorisations
- Experience in managing a construction project delivery team
- Previous experience of working in a similar role
- Experienced in framework and scheme project management
