We are lucky to be working with one of the world's leading manufacturers of Nickel, Titanium and Steel alloy forgings for the aerospace, defence and energy sectors. A vacancy has arisen for a Finishing Unit Operator to join their team based in Livingston. This is an ideal opportunity for a candidate who would like to continue their career within an exciting and progressive manufacturing facility. You will be reporting directly to the Finishing Unit Area Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Acid Etching and Dye Penetrant of parts as well as packing/shipping duties.

The ideal applicant will have:
  • Current forklift licence / crane licence
  • Sound judgement and the ability to work safely within a team.
  • Able to work with the minimum of supervision and demonstrate initiative.
  • Previous experience in a similar role and current/previous qualification would be desirable and may reduce the training duration.

Before applying, any candidate must understand that the training will involve a minimum of 40 hours classroom training and a minimum of 400 hours practical training. There will be two written multiple choice theory examinations and a practical examination. (Please note that you will be required to pass all the exams to remain in this role). Once trained additional skills training could include Hardness Testing and Metallurgical sample preparation.

As part of the recruitment process there will be a Numerical and verbal aptitude testing.
