Plant Engineering Manager

Advanced Aerospace & Energy Sectors – heavy industry

Location: West Lothian (Scotland)

Forming part of one of the world’s leading industrial groups, this specialist engineering division operates at the cutting-edge of technical design and expertise in the manufacture of high-grade forgings to the Defence, Nuclear, Aerospace and Petrochem sectors.


The Role:

  • Reporting to the Operations Director, provide a range of innovative technical solutions to overcome manufacturing problems.  Achieved either via the design or modification of existing equipment, or the specification and installation of suitable heavy plant and equipment.
  • Manage the engineering effort to ensure delivery of projects on time and to budget.
  • Ensure all in-house designed projects comply fully with regulatory authorities and relevant codes.
  • Explore and determine the cost / efficiency benefits of alternative machinery and make suitable recommendations.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders – including internal across multiple sites, plus extensive technical supplier involvement.
  • Support and drive the culture of continuous improvement in terms of Cost Efficiency, Quality, and Health & Safety while adopting industry best practice.


The Person:

  • Degree level or equivalent in Engineering coupled with relevant experience in heavy engineering industry, with a mechanical engineering bias.
  • Knowledge of CAD design and interpretation of engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of UK and International engineering standards
