A leading organization in the timber processing industry is seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to join its team. With operations across multiple countries, including extensive facilities in the UK, this innovative and forward-thinking company specializes in sawmilling, engineered wood manufacturing, and pallet and packaging solutions. The Role: Field Service Engineer

The Field Service Engineer will ensure the efficient operation of forklift trucks, material handling equipment, trailers, and other plant vehicles across two sites, with potential for further site coverage as the role develops. The successful candidate will handle routine servicing, maintenance, and breakdown repairs, ensuring minimal downtime for operations.

Occasional overnight stays may be required due to the geographical location of sites. Overtime is paid at enhanced rates: 1.3x weekday, 1.5x Saturday.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Service, maintain, and repair counterbalance forklift trucks and other site equipment.
  • Maintain spare stock, company tools, and property in good condition.
  • Complete job reports and paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Order parts and consumables while tracking orders effectively.
  • Comply with all safety procedures and site regulations.
  • Represent the company positively and professionally at all times.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Experience in field servicing forklifts or plant equipment.
  • Competence with internal combustion engines.
  • Good electrical knowledge.
  • A practical understanding of health and safety protocols.
  • Valid counterbalance licence.
  • Right to work in the UK without sponsorship.

Desirable:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Welding experience (MIG, stick).
