This position is a hybrid role with some travel to the office and to site. Sites being in Fife and West Lothian.

Role Overview:

They are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team. As a key member of the commercial department, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the surveying and commercial functions on designated projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to further their career with a leading national housebuilder.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Management: Prepare, manage, and maintain project budgets, ensuring costs are controlled and value for money is achieved.
  • Tendering and Procurement: Manage the tendering process, including preparing bills of quantities, analyzing submissions, and negotiating contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Valuations: Carry out valuations of work in progress, including forecasting of final costs and preparation of interim payments.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks to the financial success of the project.
  • Contract Administration: Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual terms, managing variations and disputes as necessary.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular cost reports and forecasts, presenting them to senior management and project teams.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, site teams, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered efficiently.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within the housebuilding sector.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of construction processes and contracts.
    • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
    • Proficient in MS Office and industry-specific software (e.g., COINS, ConQuest).
    • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
