Responsibilities:

Our client, a highly successful company based in Livingston, is seeking an experienced Finance Assistant to join their dynamic team. You will be responsible for day-to-day financial activities including bank reconciliation, invoice generation and processing company expenses. However, this role will also provide the opportunity for you to grow your skills with the support of the Finance Director, enabling you to assist with tasks such as financial forecasting, month-end management accounts, maintaining fixed asset registers, audit preparation, and budget planning. Therefore, this opportunity is perfect for an experienced finance assistant who is looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to learn new skills.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Bank Reconciliation:Conduct regular bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable:Process invoices, payments, and receipts accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Financial Reporting:Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports.
  • Invoice Generation and Input:Generate and input invoices into the system, maintaining accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Data Entry:Maintain accurate financial records and update spreadsheets.
  • Managing and Processing Company Expenses:Review and process employee expense claims, ensuring compliance and timely payments.
  • VAT Return:Process monthly/quarterly VAT returns for multiple countries.
  • Fixed Assets:Maintain the fixed assets register and calculate monthly depreciation charges.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliation:Reconcile balance sheet G/L's and post month-end journals.
  • Budget Assistance:Support the Finance Manager in budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Audit Support:Provide necessary documentation and information for external audits.
  • General Administrative Support:Perform other administrative tasks as required.
  • Reviewing Monthly Management Accounts:Assist in the preparation and review of management accounts, highlighting discrepancies and trends.
  • Maintaining Financial Journals and Sales/Purchase Ledgers:Accurately record financial transactions and reconcile ledger accounts.

What do I need to be successful?!

  • Previous experience in a finance or senior finance assistant role.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Part AAT/ACCA/CIMA qualified is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
