Requirement for a Manufacturing Project Manager to work for a leading manufacturer in the rolling stock industry, delivering a new fleet of trains according to strict timescales while reporting locally into the Head of Production and Internationally to the Project Manager.

Situation

Ford & Stanley Recruitment are partnered with a leader in the international market for the design, manufacture, maintenance and supply of equipment and components for railway systems. Due to structural changes in the way projects are being worked upon, the requirement needed for a Manufacturing Project Manager is integral to managing the success of the project.

International travel will be required for onboarding and upskilling, these periods will be broken down into manageable chunks, but the successful candidate needs to understand that they could spend 1-6 weeks abroad.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure the availability of materials.
  • Supervise, train, and motivate production line staff.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
  • Implement and oversee quality control procedures to maintain high standards of production.
  • Address and rectify any quality issues or defects in the production process.
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to improve production processes and product quality.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ensure all production equipment is maintained and operating efficiently.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule regular maintenance and address any equipment issues promptly.
  • Act as a liaison between production and other departments such as engineering, design, and logistics.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication within the production team and with other departments.
  • Quickly and effectively address any issues that arise during the production process.

Location: Newport.

Working Practice: Monday – Friday – Full time Onsite. Travel (including international) will be required to other locations.

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 (dependent upon experience)

Agreed Criteria for candidates to secure interview

  • Leadership position within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of lean principles.
  • Previous experience in rail is preferred, but not essential
