Our client, a leading manufacturer in their industry, is seeking experienced Maintenance Technicians to join their team at their site near Aberdare, South Wales.

The positions involve maintaining the Cable Manufacturing operations and Site Services. The successful candidates will work as part of a small team to ensure the effective implementation of maintenance programs in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment. Shift work will include Double Day shifts and a continuous 4x4 shift pattern.

Flexibility to work overtime and a commitment to the role is essential.

Qualifications / Experience
The ideal candidates will have previous experience as a maintenance technician in a high-volume manufacturing setting. A recognised apprenticeship in a relevant field is required, and ideally, candidates will have an HNC-level education.

While the role is mechanically biased, experience in both mechanical and electrical disciplines is essential. Candidates should be capable of working independently and using their initiative, with a strong drive to succeed in a sometimes demanding environment.

The successful candidates will be computer literate, with a solid understanding of Microsoft Windows, and experienced in fault finding and repairing Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems, gearboxes, and other large mechanical equipment. The role also requires workshop skills, including welding, fabrication, and the use of workshop machinery such as lathes, milling machines, and pillar drills.

A good understanding of PLC fault finding (including GEM80, Allen Bradley, or Siemens S7) is also necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and fault finding on plant and machinery using various maintenance techniques.
  • Contribute to machine efficiency and development programs through existing maintenance schedules and Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies, including 5-Why analysis.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections, identify recurring faults, and implement action plans to address them.
  • Complete risk assessments and follow equipment isolation procedures.
