If so, Signature Recruitment is looking for a Student Support Manager to work within a prestigious Higher Education establishment. The role is full-time and for a three-month contract - with the possibility to extend.

In this position as Student Support Manager, you will work as part of a team dedicated to delivering exceptional student support. You will use your experience and knowledge of safeguarding best practice and stakeholder management to deal effectively and efficiently with student referrals supporting students through complex and serious issues and supporting staff to do the same. In addition, you will confidently be able to lead meetings with staff and students when required.

Student Support Manager Key Responsibilities:

  • Acting as the main point of contact supporting staff to support students - providing expertise and guidance on how to best support students, triaging and signposting as necessary
  • Working with student referrals and ensuring case management systems are updated - informing tutors, arranging appropriate action when necessary
  • Assisting the Disability Support and Inclusion Team, addressing and actioning reasonable adjustments for learning such as accessibility
  • Supporting and leading on The Attendance and Engagement policy. Working with the Data Team, monitoring attendance and identifying students at risk and implementing pastoral safeguarding. Updating student records, information and spreadsheets
  • Developing online resources, how to guides and other publications for staff. Ensuring all actions are recorded, maintaining confidentiality, and following GDPR
  • Assisting with other duties in order to support the team and wider university in ensuring student welfare

Student Support Manager Key Skills:

  • A background working in social care. For example, social work, counselling, charity work, student welfare or pastoral care or family liaison work and a strong understanding of the associated need for confidentiality, professionalism and resilience
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with all stakeholders effectively with good time management and ability to multitask whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy
  • A friendly and personable manner with an understanding of dealing with difficult situations with focus and strong organisational and administrative skills to action outcomes
  • Proficient in IT skills - with a good knowledge of Excel spreadsheets
