Group Accountant - real estate OUR CLIENT are an established and growing real estate investment and development group. The business has a range of properties under management and are a leading name within the Real Estate sector. They have instructed us to help them recruit a technically solid Group Accountant to be responsible for preparing statutory accounts, and contribute to the processing and audit of a sizeable group of Property companies. The role offers scope for growth and development.

THE ROLE responsibilities for the Group Accountant will include:

  • Preparing statutory accounts including consolidations.
  • Preparing dormant accounts, Owners Partnership account, National Statistics.
  • Preparing interest calculations and supporting loan administration.
  • Preparing analysis required for tax department.
  • Internal control reviews to support Senior Accounting Officer.
  • Preparing property company VAT returns.
  • Maintaining fixed asset register.
  • Assisting with Insurance processing
  • Assisting with rent roll audit and checks.
  • Processing analysis for expenses incurred on behalf of charitable entities.
  • Ad Hoc Projects.

THE PERSON and SKILL REQUIREMENTS for the Group Accountant role:

  • Qualified ACA or ACCA with at least 2 years PQE - ideally with real estate sector / property company exposure.
  • Experience of preparing statutory accounts.
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Highly desirable knowledge of CaseWare for preparing statutory accounts
  • Experience and understanding double entry bookkeeping.
  • Ability to deal with accounting issues.
  • Ability to understand taxation implications of accounting decisions.
  • Ability to prioritise and work quickly and accurately to tight deadlines.
  • Experience of VAT and CIS are also desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including listening, building support, establishing rapport and demonstrating awareness of internal and external issues in a calm and polite manner.
  • Happy to be mainly office based 4-5 days.
