Robert Half are working with a leading fintech firm based in Central London, to recruit an Assistant Financial Controller for an 6-12 month role paying between £375-425/day inside IR35 (depending on experience). This role is an integral member of the Finance Team reporting into the Group Financial Controller, with a key role in ensuring the robust day-to-day operation of the team and producing management information.

The Role

As the Assistant Financial Controller, you would be supporting with:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations, overseeing cash, and managing the accounts payable functions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely recording of all transactions in our accounting system (Netsuite).
  • Process monthly UK and International payroll accounting, ensuring compliance with regulations and working closely with HR business partners.
  • Oversee compliance with all accounting policies, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness. Expectation to initially introduce and maintain an accounting playbook.
  • Coordinate with the external auditors for annual audits to ensure a smooth and efficient process.
  • Oversees the 13-week cash flow for reasonableness of future disbursements in A/P ledger, forecast receipts in A/R Ledger and corporate budgets. Ensures sufficient cash is available to meet upcoming payments.
  • Plan and actively participate in automation of accounting processes by working closely with our automation business partners.
  • Oversees the group bank account reconciliations which involves working closely with the Credit Control Manager and the AP Specialist.
  • Oversees and supervises the accounts payable function (1 body) to ensure accuracy of GL Coding, projects, departments, sufficient budget owner approval levels and translation of invoice detail.
  • Manage the financial month-end process, including recording transactions, journal entries, reconciling account balances, and preparing monthly reports.
  • Perform monthly analysis of budget-to-actual variances to identify key insights and areas for improvement.
  • Assist with process improvements and contribute to information system upgrades and implementations.
  • Dashboard Development: Create and maintain financial dashboards for real-time monitoring of KPIs, facilitating quick and data-driven decision-making.
  • Analyse business process and recommend control improvements to the Group Financial Controller.

Your Profile

  • Fully Qualified ACA or ACCA with 2-3 years post qualified experience and IFRS/GAAP knowledge
  • Prior experience of management of at least 1 junior is highly desirable
  • High level proficiency with Excel, Netsuite and PowerBI
  • Prior experience in a similar interim / contract role would be beneficial but not necessary.
