Assistant Management Accountant
Reed is acting on behalf of a retail company who are seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join their vibrant team. This role is ideal for someone who is analytically minded, well-organised, and has a strong attention to detail. The successful candidate will have full responsibility for the month-end close process and will support the Management Accountant with various analytical tasks and projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Full responsibility for the month ends close including posting sales & purchases, journals, overseeing accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets depreciation
• Preparing the month ends Purchase Report such as Duty calculation, Commission and Freight charges
• Full responsibility for the balance sheet reconciliation
• Complete quarterly VAT returns, ensuring compliance and keeping up to date with any changes to VAT
• Preparing Weekly Management Report such as Aged TB and Sale report
• Full responsibility for weekly customer payment allocation and supervising sales invoices and debt collection
• Supporting the Management Accountant with ad hoc analysis, reporting?and projects
• Support & Cover for the Assistant Accountant
• Managing and mentoring a Junior Accountant
• Support on ad hoc tasks
To achieve this, it will be necessary to:
• Work closely with the management accountant and concession teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Demonstrate knowledge of finance operations to facilitate the timely resolution of issues
• Be willing to learn from the experience of management accountants within the team.
• Have good analytical skills and a strong attention to detail to produce high quality reporting
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, demonstrating innovation to achieve best results
Person specification:
• Advance MS Excel skills with minimum 5 years’ experience
• Some understanding of double-entry book-keeping
• Have a ‘can do’ and positive attitude
• Analytically minded.
• Well-organised and diligent with exceptional attention to detail.
• Capable of working to and meeting deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills
