We are seeking an ACA newly Qualified Audit Senior to join our team responsible for conducting Audit Planning and Coordination. The ideal candidate will have experience in audit planning and field management, as well as excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities:

Audit Planning

- Complete planning to a high standard after having a briefing from the manager and/or responsible individual (RI)and ensuring the planning section is fully signed off on caseware.

- Draft an agenda for engagement team discussion (ETD) and be prepared to discuss Materiality, Fraud assessment, Risk of Error, Significant accounting estimates, Significant risks identified, Preliminary analytical review.

- Draft an audit approach as agreed at ETD.

- Draft information request based on the agreed audit approach and send it to the client at least two weeks prior to work.

- Draft an accurate and realistic budget for assignments for signoff by the manager and partner which fits in with the agreed time structure of each job based on the risk profile of the client.

- Draft a planning letter based on the above.

Audit and Field Management

- Produce a detailed request for information from the client two weeks in advance of fieldwork.

- Ensure good quality financial statements have been prepared prior to the commencement of audit fieldwork (and are in accordance with relevant standards i.e. FRS 101/2 or IFRS).

- Effectively manage the onsite team’s work (where relevant).

- Complete audit fieldwork/planned substantive and/analytical audit procedures as agreed with the manager/partner (RI) ensuring work is delivered in accordance with Manager and RI’s guidance and is fully signed off and completed on caseware as the audit assignment progresses.

- Keep on top of own work and junior’s work and ensure all points are cleared during initial staff booking. If delayed, discuss with Manager/Partner re client delivery of info and agree contingency plan to complete.

- Perform work on significant risk areas as identified at planning at the start of the audit and ensure work performed in accordance with the plan.

- Review testing work completed by junior and raise points as need be to bring working papers up to sufficient quality for Manager/RI review (discuss with manager/RI as soon as possible re issues where relevant).

- Ensure the file is understandable and working papers are as concise as possible and only required documentation is on the file.

- Discuss any unadjusted errors identified with the client and ensure understanding is correct. Discuss with manager and agree which should be adjusted. Liaise with the client to ensure made.

- Summarize key issues for RI reviews, proposing a course of action if possible.

- Schedule times for reviews for tax, manager, partner, and second partner as required.

- Clear manager and RI review points promptly and evidence follow up on the file.

- Regular communication with the manager on assignment to identify issues as soon as possible.

- Monitoring of position on each assignment re info to complete and communicate to manager and partner so they are aware so that the client can be chased as required.

- Update budget tracker and flag any issues with manager/partner as soon as they arise (ensure junior updates tracker as well and flags issues as/when they arise).

- Identify and draft appropriate management letter points.

Client Service

- Be approachable and friendly and deal with client queries on a timely basis.

- Keep manager/partner posted on any issues that arise during work or any issues that will impact work/client going forward so that the client can be kept in the loop.

- Where relevant, be the first point of contact for the client’s finance team.

Staff Development/Department Development

- Be approachable and act as a counselor for junior team members.

- Brief junior staff in advance of work and ensure they are aware of specific work required on each assignment.

- Provide constructive feedback on a timely basis to allow for the development of junior staff.

- Be aware of topical CPD/technical accounting/audit issues.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.

- CPA or equivalent certification preferred.

- 3+ years of experience in audit planning and field management.

- Strong communication and organizational skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
