Butler Rose is working with one of the largest housing associations in London and the south-east in their search for a Capital Accountant to join their team. This is a six month temp role with hybrid working in London and will pay upto £266/day PAYE to the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on all elements of fixed asset accounting, you will be seen as a key subject matter expert, providing guidance and challenge as part of the ongoing transformation initiatives.
  • Clean up and update the Fixed Asset Register, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Analyse historical data, investigate discrepancies, and present clear findings.
  • Liaise with various teams to identify issues, provide actionable insights, and advise on required fixes.
  • Leverage your data analysis expertise to enhance processes using Power BI and Excel.
  • Execute appropriate financial controls and ensure that information which is recorded and reported is timely, accurate, and in line with the Group's accounting policies.
  • Offer strategic and operational guidance to facilitate the management of emerging opportunities and challenges.
  • Provide support to the Head of Capital and Asset Reporting in overseeing the financial implications of the Group's CAPEX and sales programmes.
  • Maintain accurate data, managing large complex data sets on excel and in-house systems.
  • Develop a programme for collecting, updating, maintaining, and managing the Group's Fixed Asset Register.
  • Ensure that capital grant-funded assets adhere to grant terms, conditions and requirements.
  • Develop and implement standards and processes to identify and collect asset attribute data throughout the asset life cycle.
  • Manage and mentor the assistant capital accountant fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Requirements:

  • Hold a CCAB recognised accounting qualification withsupporting CPD. Ideally, a fully qualified professional, but we are open to part-qualified candidates with relevant experience.
  • Proven experience working with Fixed Assets Local Authority or Housing sector experience is a plus.
  • Extensive experience of working in a complex capital accounting environment, dealing with inventory, fixedassets and investments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for diverse audience engagement; work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strategic thinking ability; capable of analysing complex data to develop solutions and make data driven decisions
  • Experience influencing operational activities at both tactical and strategic levels across all areas of the business.
  • Knowledge and experience of SUN Systems are essential.
  • Proficiency with Power BI and Excel; knowledge of D365 and Power BI preferred
  • Ability to provide expert technical accounting advice with good knowledge of FRS and ideally exposure to SORP and related government legislation.
