We are delighted to partner with a charity based in North West London, seeking a part or fully qualified accountant with prior experience in the charity sector. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will play a pivotal role within the finance team. Your responsibilities will include the timely preparation of monthly management accounts, including consolidating both UK and international accounts.

In addition, you will assist with budget setting, cash flow preparation, and reporting, and be involved in preparing the year-end Group consolidation and Statutory Accounts alongside the Finance Director. The role also includes various ad hoc finance tasks as required. You will be skilled at collaborating across departments to understand their financial reporting needs, with the ability to interrogate their different systems and databases.

Key Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership Input:
  • Provide expert advice on all legislative and regulatory requirements for the Group.
  • Undertake financial analysis as requested by the Finance Director or CEO.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for banks, auditors, regulators, payroll providers, pension schemes, and consultants.
  • Ensure effective risk management techniques and financial controls are implemented across the Group at an operational level.
  • Ensure the Group maintains accountability to its stakeholders, with relationships monitored and considered in the Group’s development.
  • Ensure financial systems across the organisation are robust and capable of delivering accurate and timely information, both internally and externally.
  • Prepare audit schedules and support Group consolidation.
  • Develop, document, and communicate financial policies and best practice procedures to all staff.
  • Produce monthly management accounts by the tenth working day of the following month.
  • Ensure the delivery of statutory accounts with an annual clean audit report.
  • Ensure the Group remains aware of its accountability to stakeholders, with all relationships carefully managed and considered in the Group’s ongoing development.
Personal Attributes:
  • Part or fully qualified-accountant.
  • Strong working knowledge of charity sector regulations, including SORP reporting, is essential.
  • Experience in preparing Group Statutory and Management Accounts is essential.
  • Proficient in the Xero accounting software.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A team player with experience in managing staff.
  • Outstanding organisational and prioritisation skills, able to manage multiple tasks with exceptional attention to detail.

This is primarily an office-based role, working Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, with occasional opportunities for remote working.
