Our client is an industrial Commodities Group, with offices in several countries around the world. They actively source, refine, market and trade Crude Oil and Oil products, and associated financial derivatives.

Due to a recent company restructuring, in line with rapid continued growth, we are looking for a new Company Accountant to join the service company based in London which provides its services to the wider Group and Oil Group in Europe.

The successful candidate will have experience in statutory audit and the preparation of management accounts and management information; essentially this person will have run the audit process within their current role and be able to prepare and analyse monthly management accounts. Additionally, you will be fully responsible for the whole financial function of the company and be prepared to carry out all related accounting tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for financial function of the company, which acts as a service company to the wider Group.
  • Primary point of contact for the statutory audit with auditors, including preparation of financial statements and supporting documentation to meet group timelines.
  • Preparation of annual budget and variance of actuals to budget.
  • Preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts.
  • Day to day operations of the service company:

o Inputting of invoices into SAP accounting system.

o Preparation of payments on Barclays Business Master.

o Administration and reconciliation of petty cash.

o Reconciliation of bank accounts.

o Cash flows.

o Prepayments/Accruals.

o Maintaining Fixed Assets Register and Depreciation.

o Creating sales ledger invoices and bank letters.

o VAT return.

o Business analysis.

  • Group reporting to the consolidated financial statements and inter-company reconciliations.
  • Assistance in the preparation of consolidated financial statements of the Group.
  • Ad-hoc projects, such as Group accounting manual, Group statutory financial statements.
  • Flexible and willing assistance to "muck in" with whatever is required.

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Graduate with a Bachelor degree in Business or other financial area.
  • Professionally qualified or working towards a professional accounting qualification (CIMA or ACCA or equivalent)
  • Applicants must have experience in statutory audit and preparation of management information.
  • Applicants will, however, need to demonstrate a pro-active, can-do attitude to join this small team at such a pivotal time for the group.
