A prestigious UK property development business is seeking an experienced Development Accountant to join its finance team. The business currently has a c£3bn+ development portfolio that includes more than 650,000 sq ft under construction across luxury hotel, residential, build to rent (BTR) and office.

The Senior Development Accountant will be a crucial business partner, responsible for managing one direct report and overseeing the quarterly financial close process, JV and financial reporting, as well as the production of high quality management information and analysis on project performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review the preparation of quarterly development management and financial accounts, lead presentation to shareholders and JV partners.
  • Work with the Development team to review funding requirements and facilitate equity call
  • Reconcile development costs, construction cash flows, and finance drawdowns.
  • Support corporate transactions, debt structuring, and tax/legal interactions from a financial perspective.
  • Oversee the delivery of UK GAAP/IFRS-compliant financial statements and manage external audits.
  • Oversee intercompany billings and their impact on cash flow.
  • Manage and develop a Financial Accountant, ensuring strong performance.
  • Identify and implement process and system improvements.

Skills & Experience

  • Audit trained ACA/ACCA qualified with at least 2 years of post-qualification experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting within the development or construction industry
  • Advanced Excel analysis skills
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing deadlines and senior stakeholders.
  • A self-starter who takes ownership and seeks process improvements.
