Join the Finance Department at King Alfred School, where you will be part of a dedicated team managing the financial and administrative activities of the school. We are currently seeking a Finance Officer to handle the school’s Fees and Charges system, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial transactions related to student fees.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Administer the school’s Fees and Charges system, including day fees, discounts, and bursaries.
  • Work closely with the Admissions team to manage deposit charges and maintain the deposits ledger.
  • Notify staff of cut-off dates for charges, receive and reconcile charges to ensure accurate invoicing.
  • Raise termly invoices, ensuring all fees and adjustments are correctly entered and making necessary adjustments.
  • Assist in the collection of fees through various methods including direct debit and instalment collections.
  • Maintain fees in advance scheme ledgers and monitor outstanding debtors, contacting them regarding overdue accounts.
  • Maintain control account reconciliations for the Deposit Control Account on a monthly basis.
  • Assist with the administration of bursary applications and maintain the bursary student database.
  • Undertake financial analysis to ensure correct posting of transactions and follow up on any discrepancies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in financial administration, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain positive relations with parents and staff.
  • Proficiency in using financial databases and accounting software.
