Role Overview

As the Finance Officer - Accounts Payable, you will play a critical role in managing the academy’s financial operations, ensuring suppliers and stakeholders are paid accurately and on time. Working closely with the finance team, you will also contribute to the maintenance of financial records and compliance with accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Accounts Payable Management

    • Process invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial policies.
    • Match purchase orders and delivery notes to invoices, resolving discrepancies as needed.
    • Prepare payment runs, including BACS and international payments.
  2. Supplier Management

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier records.
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, addressing queries promptly.
  3. Financial Administration

    • Assist with month-end tasks, including reconciliations and accruals.
    • Monitor and reconcile company credit card and staff expense claims.
    • Support the preparation of financial reports as required.
  4. Process Improvement

    • Identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounts payable processes.
    • Ensure compliance with best practices and internal financial controls.
Candidate Profile
  • Qualifications:

    • AAT-qualified or working towards a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) is desirable.
  • Experience:

    • Proven experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role.
    • Previous experience in a cultural, non-profit, or educational organization is a plus.
  • Skills:

    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., Sage, SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
