Client

A small "not for profit" organisation requires a part qualified Finance Officer, initially for a period of 6 months, but potentially with a view to a permanent post. The role is part time (3 days per week) and office based.

Position Summary

The Finance Officer will play a key role in managing the revenue accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of revenue data capture and record keeping etc. To support the Finance department with daily, weekly, monthly and annual reporting. Assist with year-end audit preparatory work. This role requires a strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and a proactive approach to handling financial data, and awareness of stakeholders/partnership requirements. Assist with the year end accounts for audit

Responsibilities

  • Revenue Management:
    • Accurately record and manage revenue transactions, ensuring all income is recognised in a timely manner.
    • Process and monitor member subscription, CPD and conference fees, sponsorship, other income and credit notes to maintain accurate accounts receivable records.
    • Ensure revenue records comply with internal policies and accounting standards.
  • Invoice and Payment Processing:
    • Prepare and issue customer invoices in line with agreed-upon terms, contracts, and service agreements.
    • Track payments and follow up on overdue accounts, coordinating with other staff as needed.
    • Address customer inquiries related to invoicing and payments, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Reconciliation and Reporting:
    • Ensure timely monthly revenue reconciliations, verifying that revenue is correctly allocated and recorded.
    • Prepare regular revenue and accounts receivable reports, highlighting any discrepancies or issues to the Finance Manager.
    • Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities related to revenue.
  • Financial Data Maintenance:
    • Update and maintain accurate customer records, including contact details, payment terms, and credit limits.
    • Assist the Snr Financial Accountant with preparing audit documentation and responding to auditor inquiries related to revenue.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • AAT qualified or part qualified CIMA/ACCA.
  • Proven experience in a finance, accounts receivable, or revenue role, ideally within a similar organisation or sector,
  • Experience in a finance department is essential.
  • Experience of having used Sage or Sun accounts for a minimum of 12 months.
