Cedar is partnering with a leading transport services business looking to hire a Senior Group Accountant. The business operates across multiple locations with a turnover of £350m and a workforce of 3,500.

Our client is seeking a Senior Finance Accountant to join their dynamic finance team, where you will report to the Financial Controller and take full responsibility for financial reporting, compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of the Financial Accounting function for a multi-entity business with £350m turnover.
  • Prepare financial statements, reports, and reconciliations in line with FRS 101 accounting standards.
  • Conduct variance analysis and identify financial discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and internal policies.
  • Assist with monthly balance sheet and cash flow preparation.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing financial data.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance financial processes and controls.
  • Contribute to strategic projects, including M&A activity and system upgrades.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • ACA or ACCA qualification with 2+ years PQE.
  • Ideal first move from practice into industry.
  • Experience with financial software such as SAP or Agresso.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with a strong analytical mindset.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
