Title: Financial Controller - Shipping
Salary: £90,000 - £120,000 (depending on experience) + generous discretionary bonus & benefits
Location: central London, (100% office based)
Our client is a multinational shipping group headquartered in London with operations across the world. They are seeking a technically adept Financial Controller to join their London finance team. The successful candidate will report to the CFO and will be responsible for overseeing the Financial Reporting, Internal Controls and Tax functions of the Shipping group.
Job Responsibilities:
- Overseeing Group statutory and management accounting;
- Preparing and monitoring Group cash flow forecasts;
- Investment appraisals and financing;
- Cash flow management, budgeting and forecasting;
- Dealing with financial institutions;
- Maintaining strong financial and internal controls;
- Maintaining relationships with auditors and tax advisers across group locations;
- Working closely with the management team;
- Assisting with ad hoc projects as may be required by the CFO and the Board of Directors.
Requirements:
- Chartered Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CMA equiv.) with at least 5 years' of PQE
- Previous experience in an accounting role within the shipping industry is essential
- Prior audit experience from a Big 4/Top 10 firm is desirable
- Ability to work independently with minimum support, to liaise with senior individuals, and to supervise and mentor others;
- Sound knowledge of technical accounting IFRS and UK GAAP;
- Experience of performing investment appraisal and financing due diligence;
- Good understanding of Shipping/Tonnage Tax;
- Experience of process improvements and staff management;
- Ability to operate effectively in a multi-cultural and multi-currency environment;
