Broster Buchanan are proudly partnering with an innovative and fast growing TV Production business who are seeking a qualified Financial Controller (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) to join them for an initial 6 month contract. This role will have the opportunity to convert to a permanent position if going well. Main Purpose of Job: The Financial Controller (FC) is responsible for managing the day to day running of the finance department, managing all aspects of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash reporting, payroll and month-end reporting.  The FC will also support the Finance Director (FD) with regards to financial planning and analysis and serve as business partner to the Production team to ensure good governance and financial guidance as they seek to drive growth in the business.  Reports to:Finance Director Main Tasks of Job: 
  1. Manage the Project Accountant and Financial Accountant
  2. Manage the month-end close process across all group entities
  3. Responsible for preparing monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow management and statutory reporting at entity-levels and consolidated group level
  4. Oversee the preparation of detailed project profitability reporting and analysis throughout the project’s lifecycle to aid forecasting, future contract negotiations and pricing for future new project bids
  5. Managing the entities’ intercompany reconciliation and transfer pricing process
  6. Business partnering with Production, the FD and the rest of the senior management team to drive growth in the business
  7. Responsible for cash management including forecasting, reconciliations and credit control
  8. Escalation point for sales and purchase invoice related issues
  9. Timely approval and payment of payroll and all supplier payments and staff expense claims
  10. Administration and oversight of the group-wide ERP and management reporting function
  11. Manage the year-end audit process by dealing with auditor queries where necessary
  12. Lead the year-end close process
  13. Ensure a strong control environment is maintained
  14. Work closely with FD assisting with ad hoc requests when necessary
  15. Key contact for external advisors including the bank, external accountants and payroll service providers
  16. Ensure all tax and statutory filing/audit requirements are completed and submitted on time including the VAT, PAYE and Corporation Tax returns
  17. Keep abreast of all industry relevant tax and legislative reforms to ensure correct compliance and accurate revenue and cost recognition
  18. Take responsibility for self-learning and professional development
  19. Developing and refining “best practice” in all financial reporting and processes
  20. Deputising for the FD where required, such as attending board meetings in the FD’s absence
 The ideal candidate would have some/all of the following attributes:
  • Experience of film/games/media agency industries would be advantageous
  • Min 3 years’ accounting experience in industry post qualification
  • Experience with consolidated reporting in a corporate group environment
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP system in a technical/controllership role
  • Qualified ACCA/CA/ACA
  • University graduate with minimum of 2:1 preferred
  • Can-do attitude, willing to roll sleeves up

  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Keen attention to detail
