A Financial Controller is required to oversee the Accounting & Finance Department in a leading global educational institution. The individual will be responsible for the financial health of the organization, ensuring compliance with regulations and enhancing financial decision-making processes.

This prestigious institution is a globally recognized university system, which owns and operates one of the world's most diverse networks of higher education institutions, with over 60,000 students in six countries and a global presence online. Leading UK-based institutions such as The University of Law, London School of Business and Finance (LSBF), Arden University, University Canada West, the University of Applied Sciences Europe and the Berlin-based GISMA Business School are part of the group, which owns four universities and a wide network of language, business, and professional schools. The turnover of the client is circa £200 million.
Description
o Oversee and manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
o Oversee and manage bank processing and reconciliations
o Daily cashflow management / forecasting
o Maintenance of bank accounts and banking portal
o Implement and maintain internal controls and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of finance data
o Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures (incl. accruals, prepayments, payroll, intercompany and group charges)
o Reconcile Balance sheet accounts
o Reconcile and ensure accuracy of VAT postings
o Support the FP&A team on the technical accounting aspects of the budgeting and forecasting processes
Profile
A successful Financial Controller should have:
- MUST have strong technical knowledge surrounding financial controls, reconciliations, balance sheets and income
- Ideally education experience
- More on the technical side as opposed to the commercial side
- Qualifications: Strong academics / Post Qualification.
- Experience: Strong experience of managing day-to-day finance activity, using accosting software, excellent understanding of internal controls and statutory audit process, deep technical accounting and statutory reporting knowledge (IFRS and UK GAAP), use of Agresso and SAGE
- ACA, CIMA, ACCA qualification
