A global philanthropic foundation dedicated to advancing gender equality is seeking a skilled Financial Controller to support the Finance Director in managing the foundation's financial operations, ensuring integrity, compliance, and efficiency. You will oversee statutory reporting, management reporting, budgeting, and team leadership, playing a pivotal role in shaping its financial strategy and operations during a phase of growth. This is an exciting but challenging time for the organisation, which is undergoing a restructure, so it is important that the new Financial Controller is someone who can handle ambiguity, identify priorities and improve and fix systems and processes.The role can be an initial one-year fixed-term contract or considered on a permanent basis and will pay a competitive salary. It is a hybrid position, with at least three days per week required from the London offices.The Financial Controller will be responsible for:
- Leading on month-end accounts preparation for central finance.
- Leading on statutory accounts submission and acting as the main point of contact for the auditors.
- Leading a small finance team, providing guidance and fostering growth.
- Managing general ledger postings, accounts payable, and both statutory and management reporting.
- Contributing to financial strategy development and implementation.
- Conducting financial analysis to guide decision-making.
- Streamlining processes and implementing best practices.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure financial compliance and support due diligence efforts.
- Prepare and analyse reports for leadership and board meetings.
- Develop and oversee budgets, forecasts, and reforecasting processes.
- Monitor financial performance trends across regions.
- Oversee statutory submissions for UK and US entities.
The ideal Financial Controller will:
- Be a qualified accountant with strong experience from within the charity sector
- Be an experienced leader, who has worked within challenging and demanding environments and has a track record of problem-solving from a system and process perspective
- Be passionate about global humanitarian issues
- Be available at short notice to start a new position
