Are you a driven, detail-oriented, and proactive finance professional ready to lead and inspire? We're on the hunt for a Financial Controller to take charge of our operational finance function and deliver exceptional financial performance. Reporting directly to the Financial Director, this pivotal role offers the opportunity to shape our finance team, drive efficiencies, and make a tangible impact on the success of our business.
What You'll Be DoingAs our Financial Controller, you'll lead a talented team and oversee the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading & Inspiring: Manage, coach, and mentor the operational finance team to deliver on key objectives and foster a culture of excellence.
- Driving Results: Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts, board reports, and cash flow statements.
- Ensuring Financial Integrity: Implement and refine robust reporting and control frameworks, ensuring reconciliations (sales, margin, stock, balance sheet) are completed monthly.
- Optimising Performance: Manage sales and purchase ledgers to maximise working capital and ensure costs are well understood, controlled, and budgeted.
- Partnering for Success: Collaborate with the Executive team to challenge and support decision-making, driving commercial success.
- Compliance & Reporting: Manage the year-end audit process, statutory accounts, VAT, Corporation Tax, and payroll processes.
- Continuous Improvement: Develop financial awareness across HQ teams and identify opportunities for efficiencies and performance improvements.
To excel in this role, you'll need to bring a mix of technical expertise, leadership, and a passion for driving results. Here's what we're looking for:
- Qualifications: A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with experience in the retail sector.
- Technical Prowess: Strong accounting skills with advanced Excel capabilities.
- Leadership Excellence: Proven ability to inspire, coach, and develop a high-performing team.
- Detail-Oriented: A sharp eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
