It collaborates with the NHS, researchers, and industry to improve genomic testing and support medical discoveries.Based in Canary Wharf with access to excellent transport links, as well as a great selection of shops and restaurants.Your new roleThe Financial Controller will lead the operational finance team, playing a key part in ensuring strong financial management, regulatory compliance, and smooth financial operations.The Financial Controller will take the lead on financial reporting, oversee audits, and provide senior leadership with valuable financial insights to support strategic decision-making.Everyday responsibilities include:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a collaborative and high-performing finance operations team, guiding day-to-day operations and long-term career development.
- Maintain a strong internal control environment to ensure financial accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations in financial operations and shared services payroll.
- Ensure year-end reporting information is provided to external auditors and advisors and that regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met.
- Prepare quarterly reports for the main shareholder and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and FRS 102.
- Maintain a reporting model for conversion between FRS 102 and IFRS.
- Ensure VAT, corporate tax, and other statutory filings are accurate and submitted according to timetables.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Support senior leadership in decision-making by providing actionable financial data and key performance metrics
- Ensure the integrity of financial systems, making recommendations for improvements in ERP systems and reporting tools, working in collaboration with the finance team's System Accountant.
What you'll need to succeed
- You must be a fully qualified, chartered accountant with an active membership.
- You must have the right to work in the UK.
- Proven experience in a similar leadership role, hands-on, and collaborative approach.
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, FRS 102, and IFRS.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
