Our client, a growing retail brand is looking to hire a Finance Manager/Controller to join their team based in the City of London.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager or Financial Controller to report directly into the FD and manage a team of 3x reports.

This is a hybrid role - 3x days a week in the office, based in the City of London.

Financial Controller Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily financial operations, ensuring all processes run efficiently.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support junior finance team members, including the Management Accountant, Accounts Payable Accountant, and Accounts Receivable Accountant.
  • Manage the month-end closing process and prepare monthly management accounts, providing insights and variance analysis against budget, forecasts, and prior periods.
  • Assist the Management Accountant in presenting financial results to other departments in monthly meetings.
  • Support the Finance Director with budgeting and quarterly forecasting activities.
  • Prepare and maintain weekly cash flow forecasts.
  • Supervise tax filings to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors to provide accurate and complete documentation.
  • Review existing financial reports and models, identifying opportunities for improvement and automation.
  • Drive enhancements in the ERP system to improve efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain strong financial controls.
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed to support financial processes.
  • Provide additional support to the Finance Director as required.

Ideal Financial Controller Profile:

  • A qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with over three years of post-qualification experience.
  • Strong expertise in technical accounting principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in building and managing complex financial models in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience working with financial software and ERP systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics Business Central).
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Fluent in German.
  • Knowledge of German and/or Austrian GAAP.
  • Previous experience in retail and wholesale sectors, is highly desirable.
