Our client is on the lookout for a Financial Controller (Credit Risk) to join their dynamic team. What you'll do:

As a Financial Controller (Credit Risk), your role will be pivotal in managing our proprietary credit offerings. You will take ownership of the month-end processes for reporting P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow. Your meticulous attention to detail will be crucial in documenting and reviewing loss provisioning policies for credit risk, fraud, disputes, negative balances, and other risk costs. You will also represent the finance team at the Credit Risk Working Group and Risk and Compliance Committee.

  • Oversee the financial reports and controls to safeguard the company's financial integrity
  • Manage credit products and areas of credit risk
  • Ensure accurate and compliant financial data presentation to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ownership of the month end processes for reporting P&L, balance sheet and cashflow
  • Oversee the accounts' payable function
  • Documenting and reviewing loss provisioning policies for credit risk, fraud and disputes, negative balances and other risk costs.
  • Ongoing monitoring and reporting of credit risk performance and adequacy of provisioning coefficients and methods.
  • Maintain strong balance sheet controls with monthly substantiation
  • Working closely with the FP&A team to support with analysis, budgeting and forecasting of the credit portfolio and cost of risk
  • Represent the finance team at the Credit Risk Working Group and Risk and Compliance Committee
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline and improve accounting processes, operations and systems

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Financial Controller (Credit Risk) position will bring a wealth of experience from the financial services sector, particularly from technology-driven environments. Your familiarity with credit products and provisioning for credit risk will be essential in this role. You should have strong financial acumen coupled with excellent technical accounting skills. A professional finance qualification is required along with exceptional organisational skills.

  • Experience in financial services - preferably in technology-driven & scale-up environments
  • Professional finance qualification holder (ACCA, ACA, etc)
  • Experience with credit products and provisioning for credit risk essential
  • Strong financial acumen and excellent technical accounting skills
  • Familiarity with accounting standard and disclosure requirements under UK GAAP and/or IFRS
