GBR Recruitment Ltd, are proud to be working exclusively with a leading UK Charity, recruiting for an experienced home based Financial Controller, who is "hands on" with a strong background from within the Charity / NFP / 3rd sector, to head up the Charities Finance & Accounts team over a 12 months fixed term period (MAT cover).

This key remote based FC role, manages all finance / accounts team activity, ensuring the Charity has robust financial controls, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately reported both internally & externally (compliant with legislation).

  • Team Management: motivate, empower & develop a team of 3 directs (Payroll & Financial support roles).
  • Transaction processing & financial control measures, managing the month end / year end close, ensuring that transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Year-end Accounts preparation (charities SORP & FRS 102) & external audit facilitation: managing the year end timetable & all associated tasks, acting as the key liaison for all external auditors.
  • Cash-flow Forecasting & Cash-flow Management: monitoring cash balances & preparing reports for inclusion in management information (MI)
  • VAT, Monthly Payroll, Gift Aid, Direct Debit processing & Final submissions.
  • Finance Systems (Microsoft GP, Purchase Management, Salesforce & Jet) complete routine user acceptance testing of finance systems & playing a key role in any finance system development projects.
  • Finance Business Partnering: meeting with specific budget holders to discuss budget variances & re-forecasting on a monthly basis.

FC Attributes:

  • Professionally qualified Financial Controller level applicant. (AAT / ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent QBE).
  • Charity / NFP / 3rd sector experience.
  • Experienced in Charities SORP & FRS 102.
  • Knowledge of Accounting standards as applicable to a charity, such as restricted Funds, Grants, VAT, Gift Aid Regulations etc.
  • Experienced in Payroll (PAYE & other deductions)
  • Financial Statements Preparation & Audit experience (external Auditors)
  • Developing Finance Systems & Financial Controls.
  • Cash Flow forecasting
  • Risk management Data & Technology
  • Advanced user of Excel.

This role is working within a fantastic Charity & for a worthy cause, working from the comfort of your own home, working a well balanced 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
