Interim Assistant Management Accountant

Morgan Hunt are working with a University based in Central London who are looking at recruiting an Interim Assistant Management Accountant. This is a 12-month contract role paying up to £29 p/day. This role is full-time, 37 hours p/week, only Monday & Wednesday required in the office.

Key Responsibilities of the Interim Assistant Management Accountant:

  • Support the delivery of management accounting services, ensuring accurate financial reporting and cost management.
  • Assist in cash flow management, collaborating with Treasury functions to ensure accurate forecasting and proactive intervention when required.
  • Perform variance analysis on month-end reports, working with finance teams to identify and address discrepancies.
  • Prepare and review budget and forecast submissions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Produce monthly management accounts and financial dashboards with supporting commentary to aid decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and audit requirements while proactively identifying risks and discrepancies.
  • Develop strong working relationships across finance teams, sharing best practices and providing financial insights.

Previous Skills and Experience of the Interim Assistant Management Accountant:

  • Part-qualified accountant actively studying towards qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with demonstrable experience in a management accounting or finance role.
  • Experience working in a service delivery or financial reporting environment.
  • Strong data analysis and reconciliation skills with the ability to interpret financial data accurately.
  • Excellent IT skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel and a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • High level of oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to various stakeholders.
  • Experience with Oracle Financials or similar accounting software (desirable).
