Our ClientMackie Myers is delighted to be partnering with a prestigious university in Central London, currently embarking on a significant systems transformation project. To support this transition, they are seeking an experienced interim finance professional for an initial three-month contract, with scope for extension.The RoleThis is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented finance specialist to play a key role in enhancing financial controls and processes during a critical period of change. You will take the lead in resolving legacy balance sheet issues, refining fixed asset management, and streamlining statutory accounts processes, all while ensuring best practices are embedded across the finance function.Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and resolve legacy balance sheet entries while establishing a robust process for monthly and quarterly reconciliations.
  • Enhance the accuracy and timeliness of reconciliations across the finance team, embedding best practices for financial control.
  • Conduct a physical verification of fixed assets, reconcile discrepancies, and refine the Fixed Asset Register to ensure accurate classification, valuation, and depreciation.
  • Collaborate with procurement and operations to implement effective asset tagging and tracking mechanisms for improved oversight and control.
  • Streamline and automate the production of the statutory accounts working file while refining processes for seamless statutory reporting.
  • Provide ad hoc support to the Oracle Fusion implementation team, ensuring smooth integration with financial processes.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Strong experience with Agresso (Oracle experience welcomed but not essential)
  • A solid background in balance sheet reconciliations and fixed asset management
  • Proactive problem-solver with a keen eye for detail
  • Strong Excel skills and financial reporting expertise
  • Experience in a higher education or public sector setting would be advantageous but is not a prerequisite
