Interim Financial Controller | £400-500pd Inside IR35 | Alexandra Palace | 6 month contract initially | 3-5 days in Alexandra Palace offices

Alexandra Palace is seeking an experienced and results-driven Interim Financial Controller to oversee its financial operations during a transitional period. Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will be responsible for ensuring robust financial management, accurate reporting, and compliance with statutory requirements. This interim role is vital for maintaining the organisation's financial health and continuity while supporting ongoing operational needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary.
  • Ensure that the financial statements are reconciled, consistently and accurately reflect the organisation's financial position, performance, and cash flows.
  • Overseeing year-end process and responsible for liaising with external auditors, preparing audit schedules and resolving queries efficiently.
  • Manage budgeting and forecasting processes to support short-term decision-making. This includes monitoring cash flow, providing regular updates and ensuring liquidity for operations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, ensuring continuity of operations and collaborating with department heads to provide financial insights and support.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements, including preparing financial statements in line with Charity SORP
  • Oversee the payroll function to ensure timely and accurate processing
  • Provide recommendations for strengthening financial controls and reporting frameworks.

Person specification

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is essential.
  • Proven experience in financial management, preferably in an interim or project-based capacity.
  • Ideally have a strong understanding of charity accounting and trading subsidiary operations, alternatively, experience across hospitality/retail
  • Experience in working in live entertainment and or at a venue would be highly desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of payroll processes and compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
  • Proven ability to lead and support teams during periods of change.
