While accountability and ownership are essential, the successful candidate will also be a collaborative team player in a flat organisational structure. You will be responsible for both the day-to-day operations of the finance function and the execution of process improvement and efficiency initiatives. Additionally, you will engage in business partnering with operational site leads to understand and refine their reporting and budgeting requirements
This role requires a proactive Finance professional to take ownership of accounting and reporting for a portfolio of 5 fully operational investment properties. You'll streamline currently fragmented and manual processes, accelerating accounts production and investor reporting. Beyond core accounting duties, you'll drive process improvements, manage change, and optimise finance systems. Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, you'll expand your experience in a rapidly growing small business.
Responsibilities:
- Month-End Close & Reporting: Lead the complete month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of monthly reporting packs for all operational sites, directly supporting the Group Finance Manager.
- Management Accounting & Process Optimisation: Manage core management accounting functions, including bank and inter company reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments, with a focus on enhancing and automating processes where feasible.
- Third-Party Relationship Management: Manage relationships with suppliers, external administrators, and third-party accountants, ensuring adherence to disciplined financial controls.
- Investment & Asset Management Support: Provide support to the wider finance team for investment and asset management reporting requirements.
- Operational Finance Management: Oversee day-to-day operational finance tasks, including bank account management, invoice processing, and ensuring compliance with VAT, income tax, and statutory accounts (prepared by third parties).
- Audit & Compliance: Coordinate audit preparation and manage the audit of financial statements.
- Process & Control Implementation: Implement and maintain robust and consistent financial processes and controls across the organisation.
- Ad-Hoc Financial Reporting: Provide timely and accurate ad-hoc financial reports and information as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
- At least 3 years of post-qualification accounting experience.
- Proficient in accounting software (Xero preferred).
- Strong numerical and technical accounting expertise.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and multitask effectively.
- Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements for enhanced reporting efficiency and accuracy.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial data to non-financial audiences.
- Advanced IT skills (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe).
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Inquisitive and commercially minded, with a strong attention to detail and a strategic perspective.
