Robertson Bell are partnering with a Local Authority to recruit a Head of Finance on an initial six-month contract. The role will allow the successful candidate to make a crucial impact during a busy year-end period as they continue to develop their fast-growing team. This contract requires 2/3 days office attendance in Northwest London.

  • Oversee the preparation and closure of year-end accounts for the capital programme, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines and accounting standards.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the management of the treasury function, offering guidance on treasury strategies and positions as needed.
  • Manage and lead a well-established team of five including qualified, part qualified and trainee accountants.
  • Oversee the day-to-day financial management of capital projects and ensure the delivery of accurate financial reporting.
  • Provide professional advice and guidance on complex financial matters to senior stakeholders, including Members and Strategic Directors.
  • Act as a senior leader, taking responsibility for guiding the team through the demanding year-end period and ensuring successful completion of all financial tasks.

To be considered you will have:

  • CCAB qualification with significant post-qualification experience and a commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Extensive experience in managing capital programme accounts and leading finance teams.
  • Knowledge of technical accounting standards, treasury management, and local government finance.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex year-end financial processes, particularly in the capital domain.
