Interim Management Accountant

Morgan Hunt are working with a College based in East London who are looking at recruiting a Interim Management Accountant. This is a 3-month contract paying £23.92 p/hour (inc. holiday pay). The role is full-time, Monday - Friday (9am - 5pm), fully office-based.

Key Responsibilities of the Interim Management Accountant:

  • Assist the Head of Management Accounts in delivering monthly budget meetings, management accounts, cashflow analysis, and the annual budget planning process.
  • Support budget holders by providing financial training, clear advice, and regular meetings to improve financial confidence and competence.
  • Maintain and reconcile allocated income streams, ensuring accurate recording in the management accounts.
  • Prepare financial data for annual budgeting and long-term forecasting, reviewing business plans and advising budget holders.
  • Upload and maintain the annual budget in the accounting system, adjusting delegation limits and routing as needed.
  • Conduct monthly transaction monitoring, accruals, and prepayments reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in the development of cashflow forecasts, financial reports, and process improvements.
  • Provide training and support to non-financial users on finance systems and processes.

Previous Skills and Experience of the Interim Management Accountant:

  • Ideally Further Education / Public sector experience.
  • Minimum part-qualified accountant (or significant, recent, and relevant experience).
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience using accounting systems to build and amend reports.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to develop relationships with non-finance colleagues.
  • Experience in financial planning, budgeting, and variance analysis.
  • An understanding of and commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Safeguarding policies.
  • The successful candidate will need to hold an Enhanced DBS, or have one put into process for the position.
