Our client is a dynamic and innovative film production company renowned for creating world-class cinematic experiences. Based in London, with a team of 11 passionate professionals, they manage a turnover of £16 million and consistently deliver excellence in their projects. They are now looking for a Management Accountant to take ownership of their finance function, playing a key role in shaping their financial strategy and supporting their continued growth.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) looking for their first move from practice into an in-house role. You will work closely with external accountants, taking full ownership of the finance function and collaborating directly with the management team. This role combines technical expertise with the chance to travel to film festivals and immerse yourself in the creative industry.

As the Management Accountant, you will oversee all financial operations, using Xero and MS Excel to manage budgets, forecasts, and reporting, ensuring the company is well-positioned for continued success.

This role will be office based Monday-Thursday, with Fridays a work from home day. The working hours are 10am-6pm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bookkeeping & Financial Records: Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions using Xero and MS Excel.
  • Management Reporting: Prepare and present monthly management accounts, including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow analysis.
  • VAT Compliance: Handle VAT returns and ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Year-End Accounts: Collaborate with external accountants to support the preparation of statutory accounts.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop and monitor budgets, providing variance analysis and financial insights.
  • Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow, ensuring the business remains in a strong financial position.
  • Systems & Processes: Improve and maintain efficient financial systems and processes to enhance accuracy and productivity.
  • Business Support: Partner with management to provide financial insights that inform strategic decisions.
  • Travel & Representation: Attend industry events and film festivals, representing the company in a professional capacity.

Requirements:

  • Fully qualified accountant
  • Experience in an accountancy firm, ideally looking for a first in-house role
  • Proficient in Xero and MS Excel
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ambitious, proactive and eager to take ownership of the finance function
